May 1st – Interview Workshop
Job interview skills are difficult to develop. If you are interested in learning what might happen at a North American job interview please sign up and join the interview workshop. Details: Meet on the 6th floor at 4:30 (after class). Come to Bombardier classroom and be ready to take some notes. The cost is FREE!!
May 3rd – Walking Tour of Downtown
At 4:30 on Thursday I will lead the students downtown (by subway) to familiarize them with Toronto’s scenic and historic downtown core. Details: Meet after school at 4:30 in the student lounge area. Cost is FREE
May 4th – Kensington Market
Trevor will show you one of his favourite areas in Toronto Kensington Market. Kensington is famous for its second-hand, vintage clothing, and independent designers. This is one of the best places in Toronto during the summer months. Join Trevor for outdoor market shopping at its best! Meet at 4:30 on the 4th floor.
May 5th – The Clothing Show
Now in its 30th year, The Clothing Show has become an unforgettable shopping experience to thousands of people in search of the unique, the unusual, and the handcrafted. It has also become a seasonal resource for the best looks at a fraction of the price, with special sales found only at the show. The Clothing Show has continued to grow to now over 300 booths, with truly something for everyone.
May 7th – Summer Fun Essay Contest Begins
Summer is coming to Toronto and Trevor would like to know about your greatest summer experience. Write an essay describing your most amazing summer. There will be prizes for each level so don’t worry if your skill is not the best. Submit the essay by May 22nd to qualify for the prize.
May 7th – Intake Day! NO COMMUNICATIONS CLASS!
It’s ESL intake day, so don’t forget you will have no communications classes.
May 8th – Find a Job Workshop
Ok, you have your resume, you have practiced your interview skills, how can you find a job? Well KGIC is here to help you again. Learn the best ways to find a job in Toronto. Details: Meet on the 6th floor after school in Bombardier Classroom.
May 9th – CN Tower Tour
Toronto’s most recognized landmark must be a seen on any visit to the city. We will gather after classes (4:30 pm) and go to the CN Tower via TTC. Details: We will meet in front of Yanela’s desk on the 4th floor at 4:30 pm. The cost is just $15!
May 10th – Conquest Canada Third Meeting (IMPORTANT)
This meeting requires MANDATORY attendance. We will determine the final groups and assign teachers to the RV’s. It will be a fun and exciting meeting. GET READY THIS ONCE A YEAR EVENT WILL BE LEGENARY.
May 12th – MLB Baseball, Toronto vs. Tampa Bay
The Blue-Jays are playing against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The best part is the price! Details: Meet on Front Street outside the Skydome at 6:30. The cost is just 18 dollars for seats in the 100 section. Too expensive? Ask Trevor about other ticket options
May 14th – Humber College Presentation
Humber College will be stopping by for a brief presentation about the courses it offers. If you are interested in gaining a post-secondary education here in Canada this is a great way to learn what might be required, and what you can study. Meet in Vancouver Classroom at 4:30 to join this amazing presentation.
May 15th – Resume Workshop
Come and learn how to improve your resume from our practicum coordinator Trevor Marshall. Meet on the 6th floor at 4:30 on Tuesday. Don’t forget to bring a rough-draft of your English resume.
May 16th – We Will Rock You! Musical
Another fantastic musical at the Cannon Theatre. Tickets are available for this Wednesday performance. Choose from $35, $49 or $65 tickets! Sign up soon the tickets will sell quickly.

May 18th – Beer and Cocktail Show
The Beer & Cocktail Show is the alcohol show with the sparkling mix of fun and excitement spiced with the unique blend of the world’s famous alcohol distributors. See some live entertainment and enjoy many different samples of beer and cocktails. It will be a great night for alcohol at Toronto’s Historic Distillery District. Tickets are just $17, see Trevor to sign up and pay.
May 19th – Canada’s Wonderland
Ontario’s premier theme park will be KGIC Toronto’s first big summer-time activity. We’ll head to York Mills subway station at 9:00 am on the 19th of May and then travel to Canada’s Wonderland on a GO bus. Details: The Cost is just $25, please see Trevor to sign up and pay!
May 21st – Victoria Day, NO SCHOOL
May 22nd – Summer Fun Essay Contest Ends (see above)
May 23rd – Boat Cruise Party
What could be finer for a Tuesday evening than a dance/boat cruise on Lake Ontario? We can enjoy the skyline of Toronto from the cruise boat. Dance music will create a club atmosphere on the ship as we tour the harbour for 4 hours. The cost is just $18, a small price to pay for such a great night of fun.
May 25th – Conquest Canada Final Meeting
The FINAL meeting for Conquest Canada 2007. If you have any final questions, concerns or ideas please don’t forget to attend. We will be departing on Monday morning so make sure you are prepared.
May 26th – Niagara Falls Tour
Niagara Falls in May. The Maid of the Mist is running again. Don’t miss this event. The cost is just $25. This does not include the price of the Maid of the Mist Boat Tour. It costs an extra $15. Don’t forget to sign up early!
